"Hey Guys...he thinks he's the REAL Buzz Lightyear" February 20, 2010 Casey J. Jones (Seattle, WA) For real though. This toy thinks he's the REAL Buzz Lightyear. He is a dead-on replica from the movie. The one and only thing that he didn't do that he had in the movie was the karate chop action (probably because they couldn't fit the mechanical parts in along with the wiring). His laser shoots out, his helmet pops open, his wings pop out from the mere push of a button. He has all of the original sayings from the "toy" version of Buzz in the movie and then 60-some sayings from "alive" Buzz. One of the coolest features, is when you play with some of his features, he makes a comment about what you are doing to him. Examples: When you open or close his helmet, he comments about you opening and closing his helmet. When you turn him horizontal, he makes a bunch of flying noises. And when you open his wrist communicator, he talks into it. Really cool little features that I think most other versions of Buzz have never pulled off before. Much like many other reviewers have said, his stickers and paint job are done cheaply....but very true to the movie. His stickers are done just like the movie...his paint job is done just like the movie. But if you are using him as a collectors piece and not an actual toy, I think you'll find you don't have to worry about it that much. Another cool feature, when you turn on his interactive mode, he'll sit there and chat away with Woody and Rex all day long. They don't even care if you (a human) are in the room.
Very quality toy...and out of all of the "Toy Story Collection" toys from Thinkway, I think he's the MOST accurate, and the most worth the money that he's retailed at. All of the other 5 are overpriced. Buzz, you actually get what you pay for.
Another cool fact. I e-mailed Thinkway Toys and they are releasing some new toys around the release of the new movie. They didn't tell me who they are releasing, but I can always assume. So in only a few months you'll be able to add Jesse, Bullseye, Prospector, and Zurg (that's what I'm hoping for anyways) to the gang and have a more complete collectors set. One more side note. It's not made by Thinkway, but I'm assuming that's due to copyright laws...but there is a REALLY accurate Mr. Potato Head that I saw at Fred Meyer. His scale to the movie is pretty accurate when put with the Thinkway toys. It's made by Playschool. I'd recommend him to add to your collection.
Thanks
Great Toy February 8, 2010 S. J. Watson (Raleigh, NC USA) This fulfilled a three year olds "Toy Story" wish. We watched the movie everyday for months. It works just like the toy in the movie. I was very pleased with the quality and the purchase went very smooth.
Fun but poorly constructed January 28, 2010 K. Carlson I ordered this for my 3 year old son for Christmas. I had to send it back twice because the wings did not function properly. Amazon Customer Service was great!!! Finally, the third Buzz functioned properly. However, even though my son has been gentle with Buzz, his helmet, back pack and wing all came apart. At least I was able to snap it back together. Fun toy but not durable in the least.
Buzz IS a cool toy! January 18, 2010 Nicole Alger (Belmont, CA United States) My 3 year old got the Toy Story Collection Buzz and Woody for Christmas. Woody is fun, but Buzz is far superior. My husband and I have had so much fun playing with Buzz, and my 11 month old is in love with him. I don't think there will be another Buzz as cool as this one, and if you're in the market for a Buzz Lightyear, I can't recommend this version enough.
I don't know if we have the Talkback mode completely figured out yet, but it's a lot of fun. His helmet makes sounds when you open and close it. He shoots his laser. He responds to your voice-- if it's too loud, he'll tell you to quiet down (which is HILARIOUS when my 11 month old was screaming while holding on to him). I never get tired of opening his wings and having him fly-- if you tilt him horizontally and zoom him around, he'll make flying noises. It's so much fun! Another really neat feature is that all of his fingers move-- I was surprised about that!
We have had to fix Buzz a couple times. Once, his front helmet piece fell off, and luckily I was able to put it back on without cracking it. His wings can easily become dislodged, but so far I've been able to fix that, too. I don't know how much rough play Buzz can handle before something breaks for good, but we'll try to be careful.
buzz lightyear January 7, 2010 Marie Ange (Watertown, NY USA) My grandson who is 4 yrs old loves this toy. He play acts a lot with it, but he dropped it and one of the wings will not flip up anymore.
